Solo exhibition – Maurizio Meldolesi
July 11 – 26, 2026 – ArtBoxGallery Amandola
The exhibition navigates a liminal territory, where the precision of realism meets the evanescence of symbolism. Through a subtle subversion, the pop icons of our childhood are used not to celebrate consumption, but as masks of esoteric inquiry. The seemingly gentle subjects of the polyptychs conceal disturbing elements and esoteric mottos, reminding us that every image is manipulable. From quotations from Renaissance masters to the evocation of ancient deities, the artist constructs “memory machines,” connecting Italy’s artistic heritage to a contemporary language, where play becomes a means of decoding the sacred and the profane. The work expands beyond the panel thanks to an augmented reality app, revealing messages invisible to the naked eye and inviting the viewer to take an active role. Meldolesi doesn’t just paint figures: he paints the doubt, transforming pictorial matter into a true alchemical transmutation of reality.
