This morning, at the Santa Maria della Scala complex in Siena, the art exhibition “Cavalli d’Autore” was inaugurated, dedicated to the undisputed protagonist of the Palio: the horse.
The exhibition features works by both Italian and international artists and will be open to the public until October 31.

Cavalli d’Autore – Group Art Exhibition
Sala San Pio – Santa Maria della Scala – Piazza del Duomo
Siena, October 21-27, 2019

Fourteen artists will exhibit their work in the Sala San Pio at Santa Maria della Scala from October 21-27, 2019, for the Cavalli d’Autore exhibition. The exhibition will take place concurrently with the Go-Kart charity event at the Siena Circuit – Casetta – on October 25-27, 2019. This event will feature leading figures from the world of the Palio di Siena, including, for the first time, those from Legnano, Asti, Fucecchio, Ferrara, Castiglion Fiorentino, Bientina, Buti, Casole d’Elsa, Piancastagnaio, and Castel del Piano. All proceeds will benefit the LILT Siena section and DYNAMO Camp.

This exhibition is entirely dedicated to equestrian tradition; the horse is the sole protagonist of the paintings and sculptures on display. In the Sala San Pio, you can admire paintings by Tommaso Andreini, Vincenzo Bocciarelli, Franco Carletti, Elena Conti, Roberto di Jullo, Enzo Gambelli, Carol Marano, Maurizio Meldolesi and Claudia Nerozzi, Daniele Righi Ricco, and Daniele Zacchini, as well as sculptures by Augusto Filippeschi, Turi Alescio, and Renato Ferretti.

Each artist, through their own unique and original style, offers the viewer a simple and dynamic image of the horse, the fruit of a profound knowledge of the subject and a masterful mastery of the material. This group of artists wishes to pay homage to the horse, the undisputed protagonist of the Palio.
